Waspaloy is a nickel-based, age-hardenable superalloy developed for applications that require very high strength and good corrosion and oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
The alloy is mainly used in gas turbine engines and the aerospace industry where components are exposed to high temperatures, mechanical stress and aggressive environments.
Waspaloy retains its strength at temperatures up to approximately 650°C in critical rotating components and up to approximately 870°C in less stressed components.
Waspaloy is a nickel-based superalloy whose high temperature strength comes from a combination of solid solution strengthening and age hardening.
Molybdenum, cobalt and chromium contribute to solid solution strengthening while aluminum and titanium allow for age hardening, which provides very high strength and stability at high temperatures.
Waspaloy has good oxidation resistance and performs well in environments with frequent thermal cycling and continuous exposure to high temperatures.
The alloy has demonstrated good performance in gas turbine atmospheres and in marine environments with salt spray.
| Yield strength (0.2%) | ~800–1000 MPa |
| Tensile strength | ~1000–1200 MPa |
| Elongation | ~15–30 % |
| Density | ~8.19 g/cm³ |
| Modulus of elasticity | ~210 GPa |
| Recommended working temperature | up to ~650°C in rotating components |
| Oxidation resistance | up to ~1038°C depending on environment |
With a global network of suppliers, we can offer Waspaloy in technical dimensions for demanding aerospace and turbine applications.
