Alloy 50, also known as Nitronic 50, 1.3964 or XM-19, is an austenitic stainless steel with high strength, good corrosion resistance and very good wear and galling resistance.
The alloy combines high mechanical strength with excellent resistance to corrosion in marine environments, chloride solutions and chemical process environments.
Alloy 50 is often used in the marine industry, pump and valve components, chemical process industry and other applications where both high strength and good corrosion resistance are required.
Alloy 50 is an austenitic stainless steel alloyed with chromium, nickel, manganese and nitrogen to achieve high strength and improved corrosion resistance.
The nitrogen in the alloy contributes to higher strength and improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Alloy 50 offers very good corrosion resistance in marine environments, chloride solutions and many chemical process environments.
The alloy has better resistance to pitting corrosion than many standard austenitic stainless steels.
