Titanium Grade 2 is one of the most widely used commercially pure titanium alloys and offers an optimal balance between strength, corrosion resistance and formability. It is slightly stronger than Titanium Grade 1 but retains excellent weldability and biocompatibility, making it popular in the chemical industry, marine technology, medical technology and energy.
Due to its chemical purity and HCP (hexagonal close-packed) structure, Grade 2 combines good strength with very good corrosion resistance, weldability and long service life in demanding environments.
- Type: Commercially pure titanium (≥98.9–99.7 % Ti)
- Purity: High purity, slightly higher strength than Grade 1
- Structure: HCP (hexagonal close-packed)
- Designations: Titanium Grade 2, CP Grade 2, UNS R50400, Werkstoffnr 3.7035, ASTM B265, ASTM F67, AMS 4902
- Recommended filler material for welding: AWS A5.16-90 ERTi-2
Chemical industry
Pipes, tanks and heat exchangers in acid-resistant systems.
Marine & Offshore
Components in seawater-exposed systems, hull parts and cooling systems.
Energy & Power plants
Condensers, process equipment and shell materials with requirements for low weight and corrosion resistance.
Medical technology & Biotechnology
Implants and medical instruments thanks to good biocompatibility.
HVAC & Industrial Systems
Titanium tubes in chlorinated fluids for high durability and long service life.
Titanium Grade 2 develops a stable and dense oxide film that protects against a wide range of corrosive media, including seawater, chlorides and oxidizing acids. The material is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking in most commercial fluids.
