Sustainability

At HARALD PIHL, we strongly believe in the responsibility that businesses hold towards society.

By providing employment opportunities, paying taxes, and engaging in business collaborations, we understand that we contribute to the development of the world we live in, keeping the next generations in mind. However, we aspire to go beyond these responsibilities and make an even greater impact.

Josef Samak is responsible for ESG matters and regulatory developments at HARALD PIHL, with a focus on how evolving sustainability frameworks affect the global metals supply chain.

His work focuses on translating complex regulations and initiatives into practical insights for both our organization and our customers. This includes developments such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), supply chain transparency requirements, and broader sustainability reporting frameworks.

By closely monitoring regulatory changes and their impact on the market, Josef helps ensure that HARALD PIHL is prepared for new compliance requirements, while also supporting customers who need to navigate the same evolving regulatory landscape.

In addition to his internal work, Josef also contributes industry analysis and commentary on sustainability and trade developments within the metals sector.

CBAM and new regulations in the metals industry

Over the coming year, our ESG Specialist Josef Samak will follow and analyze developments surrounding the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Through an article series in Stainless Steel World, he highlights how new regulations may impact the global metals market, supply chains, and future trade conditions.
