Alloy C276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-based filler material known for its very good corrosion resistance in a wide range of aggressive media. The high molybdenum content provides resistance to localized corrosion, such as pitting and crevice corrosion.
The low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding and helps maintain resistance to intercrystalline attack in heat-affected zones. The material is therefore often used in welded structures in the chemical industry, flue gas cleaning, pulp and paper manufacturing and waste management.
Alloy C276 is developed for welding in highly corrosive environments where standard austenitic stainless steels do not offer sufficient resistance. The weld metal provides good resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media.
The material is often used in process equipment where the welded joint must maintain its corrosion resistance even after heat treatment.
Alloy C276 is primarily used for welding high-alloy nickel-based corrosion-resistant materials. It is also used in dissimilar welding where high chemical resistance is required in the weld metal.
Alloy C276 offers very good resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemical media. The material is particularly appreciated in environments where both localized corrosion and intergranular attack must be limited.
This makes the welding material a strong choice for process equipment operating in acidic, chloride-containing or otherwise corrosive environments.
