Titanium Grade 5 (GR5, Ti-6Al-4V, UNS R56400, W.Nr. 3.7165, ERTi-5) is a high-strength filler metal for welding titanium alloys of similar composition. The material is used in applications where low weight, high strength, good corrosion resistance and reliable welds are essential.
This welding material is particularly suitable for the aerospace industry, medical technology, marine equipment, motorsports and other high-performance structures where strength to weight ratio is an important requirement.
Titanium Grade 5 is an alpha-beta titanium alloy with aluminum and vanadium as alloying elements. The material combines high mechanical strength with low weight, good fatigue strength and good corrosion resistance.
As a welding material, Titanium Grade 5 provides strong and stable welded joints, but requires careful shielding gas and a controlled welding environment to avoid the uptake of oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen.
Titanium Grade 5 is primarily used for welding titanium alloys with similar Ti-6Al-4V composition where high strength and low weight are important requirements.
Titanium Grade 5 offers good corrosion resistance in many environments, especially where low weight and high strength need to be combined with resistance to corrosion.
The material performs well in marine environments, many chemical process environments and technical applications where both mechanical performance and long service life are important requirements.
