Titanium Grade 7 is a palladium alloyed variant of commercially pure titanium, developed to provide superior corrosion resistance in aggressive chemical environments. The material combines low weight, good strength and very high resistance to reducing acids and chloride environments. Thanks to the addition of palladium, Titanium Grade 7 is mainly used in the chemical process industry, energy and marine applications where standard CP titanium does not provide sufficient protection.
Titanium Grade 7 has a hexagonal crystal structure (HCP) and is basically comparable to Grade 2, but with a small addition of palladium that dramatically improves corrosion resistance, especially in reducing and acidic environments. The material retains good weldability and formability while providing increased safety in demanding chemical processes.
- Type: Palladium alloyed commercially pure titanium
- Alloy: Titanium + Pd (≈0.12–0.25%)
- Structure: HCP (hexagonal close-packed)
- Designations: Titanium Grade 7, CP Grade 7, Titanium Grade 7, UNS R52400, Werkstoffnr 3.7235, ASTM B265, ASTM B348
Chemical process industry
Reactors, heat exchangers and piping systems in highly corrosive acid environments.
Energy & Process equipment
Components where long service life in aggressive chemical environments is crucial.
Marine & Offshore
Systems exposed to chlorides and seawater with high demands on corrosion protection.
Advanced industry
Special components for chemical and technical processes.
The palladium addition makes Titanium Grade 7 exhibit superior corrosion resistance compared to standard CP titanium, especially in reducing acids and environments where crevice or pitting corrosion can otherwise occur.
