Alloy A-286 is a high-strength iron-nickel-chromium alloy developed for applications requiring high strength, good oxidation resistance and stable performance at elevated temperatures.
The alloy is often used in the aerospace industry, the energy sector and other technically demanding environments where components are exposed to high temperatures, mechanical stress and oxidative atmospheres.
A-286 combines good creep resistance, high temperature strength and good corrosion resistance, making the material suitable for safety-critical components.
Alloy A-286 is a precipitation-hardened iron-nickel-chromium alloy that retains its mechanical strength at temperatures up to approximately 700 °C.
The alloy is often used where high-strength stainless steels are not sufficient and where both temperature and oxidation resistance are important factors.
Alloy A-286 is a of the most widely used high-strength alloys for components exposed to high temperatures and mechanical loads. Due to its combination of high strength, oxidation resistance and good creep resistance, the material is often used in the aerospace and energy industries.
The material often appears in technical specifications and drawings under designations such as A286, UNS S66286, EN 1.4980 or ASTM A453 Grade 660.
Alloy A-286 offers good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures as well as stable mechanical performance in many industrial environments.
The alloy is often used in applications where both temperature strength and corrosion resistance are required.
